Butterflies
There are two different motif orientations in this group. B1 and B4 are the standard vertical orientation, but notice B2 and B3. Those Butterflies are in the corners. Most Butterfly images in the old patterns were oriented this way. If you turn the butterfly so that the wings face left and right, the holes in the template will be on the diagonal. There is nothing wrong with using the corner Butterflies in this way, but the corner placement makes these critters suitable for making small square frames (wing tip to wing tip) and medallions (facing away from a central point).
