This template is made from heavy plastic that has been laser cut. The holes are cupped on one side and rather flat on the other. If you want to emboss the vellum you can only work from the front side (look for the label). Beware, this goes for letters as well. If you are making names or other words you have to work backwards! On the other hand, there is a big advantage to using plastic. Since it is translucent, you can see the work underneath making it easy to line things up (just backwards).
