Off Grid
This whole Hasty Lace® thing started with the Easy Screen which is in the form of a square grid. The majority of the Hasty Lace® designs are made using this square layout. But squares don't make great circles, and you can't make a free-form design in such confined quarters.
The designs in this group started one night when we were at a show, and I was messing around with the A5 template. (Christmas was in the back of my mind.) I used the branch motif from that design and embossed it this way and that, making something like a wreath. (I do my best work at midnight under a dim light when I have to get up early for a show the next morning.) The wreath turned out so nice, that I used it for my Christmas cards that year. And, of course, I put a sample on display in our booth to illustrate how you can use one small element to create a design.
I had made a template of the wreath for my own use. People liked the sample so much that I made a template for them too. To make the wreath I had to abandon the grid. So why not make a Tree the same way? Or circles, eggs, cameos, and silly squiggles?
