This design doesn't look particularly square, but back in the early days there were two groups: Large Squares and Small Squares. This design is big enough to be in the Large group and if you were to draw a frame around it you would find that overall it 's square.
The versatility of this design isn't obvious at first glance, but you would be missing a lot. Notice the plant in the lower right. You can make a lovely border by repeating it in a line. The little tuft of grass just to the left of the plant can be rotated and joined to make a border or frame. Take a detail from almost anywhere in the design and you have a simple card accent. And the tree leaves can be embossed or pierced randomly for some very intersting effects. Check out the "C" in the Monograms.
