What do you do with a bunch of colored vellum and an interest in quilts? Make a whole new category of Hasty Lace® crafting, of course!
When I started playing around with some quilty layouts and began filling the divisions with embossed patterns I encountered a new problem. The patterns ran together and became indistinct. So I tried embossing one pattern on the vellum and then turning the vellum over and embossing the adjacent pattern from the other side. It worked very nicely! And I then wondered why I hadn't thought of doing this before — I didn't have a reason to.
After using a ruler to score the layout on the vellum I thought there must be a better way. With some experimenting I was able to make templates that had grooves on them instead of holes. A new technique was born! Pretty much by accident. Little did I realize how much fun these Scoring Templates would be to use.
There are many possibilities with just the Scoring Templates alone, and in the Ideas for each Scoring Template you will see some of the steps that I went through to make some magical transformations. Then there are the Pattern Templates you can use for filling in your Quilt. Direction, density, innies and outies…so many possibilities, so many things to try!
