The Scoring Templates have grooves instead of holes cut into the plastic. They are for transferring a pattern onto a piece of colored or clear vellum, 30# vellum works best. This is much easier than measuring and marking a pattern by hand!

To do this you should first wax the side of the vellum that is facing up. Some waxed papers are a bit waxy, others are more like plastic. What I have found to work best are the waxed bags that a pastry or scone might be placed in at a coffee shop. They are quite waxy and can be used many times.

Place the 1mm Embossing Tool in one of the grooved channels and trace pushing the paper into the groove as you drag the tool along the design. You have to be careful at intersections, and some curved elements are most accurately traced by starting in the center of the curve and working outward in one direction and then the other.

If you are using clear vellum, you can work on a light tablet, or you can color the grooves in the template with a fine tipped permanent marker if you want to work with overhead light instead. Use brown or red, rather than black so that you can see where you have traced. If you are using colored vellum you must work with the light source coming from behind using a light tablet, or by taping the template and vellum to a window in the daytime.
