This is the top left corner of a larger design (STF2) which was taken from an antique quilt. It is the stitching that was done on a solid fabric. I put a square border around this smaller version to make it easy to use for a large card or small frame.
This is a wonderful pattern to color! Use a clear or very light color vellum, and do your coloring on the back. That way any stray marks won't hit the raised lines on the front. I use Derwent Coloursoft pencils, and they work quite well on the vellum. Some of the Prismacolor pencils will work too. Any lead harder than that will not leave enough color on the vellum. You can also use very soft pastels. You can't use anything wet. The white embossed design is where the paper has been stretched, so it acts like a sponge!
