This is a new kind of template! It has grooves in the plastic instead of the usual holes.

They are wonderful for working with colored vellum (on a light table, light box, or window), but you can use clear vellum as well. 30# vellum is recommended. It really helps to rub some waxed paper over the vellum before scoring the design with the 1mm Embossing Tool. The tool will glide over the paper.

As with the embossing templates, the pattern you see (which is a bit funny looking) isn't necessarily the pattern you will be making. The vellum will be moved around to fill out the design, and maybe to add another repetition of a pattern. After scoring and embossing a design you can color it too. I have found Coloursoft Pencils by Derwent to work very well for this. Prismacolor Pencils are a second choice: they aren't as soft. One thing you cannot do is color the vellum with anything that is wet. No, no, no…it will go straight into the trash!
