In 1996 my husband and I were in Paris for three months. My hands never stop making stuff, so to be sure they would be busy I brought along some knitting, lace making, and a book called 3D Geometric Origami by Masahiro Chatani (I have always loved geometry!). After reading the book and understanding how the sliceforms work, I decided that, rather than making a tetrahedron, Why not make an Eiffel Tower? So I did. With postcards to guide me, I measured all the dimensions and made my own little Eiffel Tower card. I was smitten! That year I made a 3D Tree for our Christmas cards. It turned out so well, that I had to share it! (some assembly required)™ was founded in 1999. Back in the days when I had a life, my hobby was bobbin lace making. My specialty is straight lace which is a form of very complex weaving. (There's that math again.) At one point in my papercrafting life I came across the Pergamano® Easy Screen that could be used to create patterns in vellum by making counted holes like cross stitch. I found it nearly impossible to make a pattern without also making mistakes. I thought, "Why not make something with the holes in the place to begin with. Girl + laser = Hasty Lace® templates! So here we are by chance and curiosity.
We sell our products at stamping and crafting conventions from time to time. My husband and I enjoy teaching and interacting with customers at these events. The rest of our sales are mostly right here. It is my hope that this website will be an experience even better than seeing us at the shows where I don't have the materials to demonstrate all the techniques and assembly of all the models that people ask about. Here, you can take your time and get all the information you need. The site contains lots of samples with explanations of how they were made. You can shop by shapes and groups of products, and you can shop by technique too. Perhaps the most helpful part of the website are the videos that show how to put the models together!
